Cher Soua Xiong was born on February 4, 1944. He was a proud Hmong veteran of the Vietnam War. Cher Soua dedicated most of his life to his family.
As the oldest son of his family, Cher Soua endured many hardships early in life. One included the loss of his oldest son, Toua, who tragically passed away while fleeing from Laos to Thailand. Despite these challenges, Cher Soua’s resilience and courage carried him through to start a new life in America.
In 1987, he and his family settled in Lompoc, California, before moving to Georgia in 1997. Cher Soua was a devoted member of the Ceebtsheej Baptist Church in Winder, Georgia, where he found community and faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Youa Xiong, 6 sons: Seng, Bee, Ser, James, Michael, and Peter, 2 daughters: Phoua and Mailee, his 17 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Cher Soua loved and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who brought him lots of joy and pride.
On 8/17/25, Cher Soua passed peacefully in his home. His life was an example of strength, perseverance, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and love him.
A memorial service will be held at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 20, from 9:30 AM–12:00 PM and 3:00–6:00 PM, and on Sunday, September 21, from 12:30–1:15 PM.
