Gary Silas Johnson

Gary Silas Johnson, age 73, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026 at his home in Auburn, GA. Gary was born in Pikeville, KY on October 30, 1952. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Johnson, father, Silas Johnson, wife Sharon Beasley-Johnson and his two daughters Connie Colwell and Jeraldine Colwell. He is survived by his sister Karen Fouts and husband Paul as well as his three nieces. His son Anthony Johnson and wife Melissa, his daughter Jillian Johnson and partner Zack, daughter Brandi Beasley and partner Jeremy and daughter Korrine Johnson and husband Bryan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Gary Colwell, Samantha Jones, Jeffrey Elmore, Megan Elmore, Nathan Pritchett, Blake Brock, Brittney Colwell, and Kendall Owens as well as 8 great grandchildren. Gary loved being a father, especially being a girl dad. Gary had a wonderful sense of humor and found pride in making people laugh. He retired from construction, specifically glass installation, in 2007. Gary loved sports and even served as coach for the Auburn Little League in the 1990s. His passions were the University of Kentucky basketball, reading and history.

A viewing and service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Lawson Funeral Home. Gary will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Nathaniel Johnson Cemetery in Virgie, KY.
