Homer Whisnant

Homer Whisnant, born May 5, 1946, peacefully passed away on May 11, 2026. He was a cherished member of the Maysville community and is remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the enduring bonds he fostered throughout his life.

Homer's legacy is deeply rooted in the love he held for his family. He is survived by his devoted son, Robert Whisnant, and beloved grandson, Brantley Whisnant. His close-knit circle also includes his siblings U.V. Whisnant, Mary Lou Norris, Alice McDaniel, and Eunice Kittle, all of whom stood as pillars of support and shared in the joys and challenges of life together.

He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Thomas, daughter Candy Lynn, and his parents, Fannie Lee Smith and Wilburn Whisnant. He also lovingly remembers his siblings Nathaniel Whisnant, Harold Whisnant, Buster Whisnant, Daniel Whisnant, and James Whisnant whose memories continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family will honor Homer’s memory with a graveside service held on May 18, 2026, at Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery located at 4554 Highway 82 N, Commerce, GA 30529. The service will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM, offering a time for reflection and remembrance among those who were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Homer Whisnant’s life was one marked by a quiet strength and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. His presence brought comfort and joy, and his absence will be profoundly felt. Those who knew Homer are invited to gather and celebrate the rich life he led, reflecting on the meaningful moments shared.

Though flowers will not be requested, contributions may be made to the funeral home to support the service arrangements in his honor.
