James Edwin Burris Jr. , age 85 of Hoschton, GA, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024. James was a member of the Church On The Hill, he loved woodworking, animals, baseball, and collecting baseball cards. He also trained guard dogs and a Siberian Huskey in his time here. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by many. James is survived by his wife of 64 years Judith Burris of Hoschton, GA; son Jeffrey Burris and wife Dawn Burris of Boynton Beach, FL; daughter Julie Rossi and husband Dr. Mauro Rossi of Watkinsville, GA; half sisters Palma Fife of Philadelphia, PA, Flora Caranci of Philadelphia, PA; brother in law Paul Shingleton and wife Debbie of Sinking Springs, PA; sister in law Linda Henry and husband Herman of Fountaintown, IN; grandchildren Abigail Marie Burris of Dallas, TX, Jacob Mauro Rossi of Watkinsville, GA; multiple nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. James is preceded in death by his father James Edwin Burris Sr.. A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Senior Pastor Jeff Perkins and Senior Adult Pastor Steve Pritchett. Interment cremation. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
