James Gerald "Jerry" Newsom

James Gerald “Jerry” Newsom , age 70, of Hoschton passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015.  Jerry was born in Atlanta, GA.  He was in the first graduating class of St. Pius High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia State University.  A Vietnam Veteran, he served in the United State Marine Corps.  Mr. Newsom worked most of his life at the State of Georgia as Risk Manager where he was administrator for the state’s self insurance program for worker’s compensation, liability and property insurance. He loved helping friends and neighbors. Survived by his wife of 33 years  Judith Foster Newsom of Hoschton; 7 brothers; 4 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6439 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch, GA, 30542.  A reception will follow at the church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  A burial will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. at a later date.
