Joe Thomas Shepherd Jr.

Joe Thomas Shepherd Jr., of Braselton, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on October 25, 1945, Joe lived a full and meaningful life, and he went to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of his family.

Joe was a Navy veteran that proudly served the country he loved and was retired from AT&T. He was also an avid glamper, who cherished time spent on the gulf coast and loved a great Casino! He found great joy in sharing coffee and conversation at Waffle House with his buddies, moments that reflected his deep appreciation for friendship.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took immense pride in his family. Joe is survived by his daughters, Robin (Kevin) Buckley, Kristi (James) Salter, and Karen Schleher. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Ashleigh (Kevin) Harford, Zackary (Amber) Ferguson, Preston Buckley, and Bodhi Schleher; and his great-grandchildren: Parker Ferguson, Kash Harford, and Kloe Harford.

Joe is also lovingly remembered by his wonderful companion and dear friend, Tilina Lewis, whose presence brought comfort and joy to his life.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved. His life was a testament to the importance of hard work, family and friendship.

A private family celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date.
