Johnny Ray Gooch

Johnny Ray Gooch, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. Born on December 13, 1958, Johnny lived a life deeply rooted in love, family, and simple pleasures. He held a profound affection for his family, enjoyed the quiet tranquility of fishing, and found solace and joy in gospel music, which echoed the depth of his spirit and faith.

Johnny is survived by his devoted mother, Betty Gooch, whose love remained a guiding force throughout his life. He leaves behind his beloved sons: Clifton Gooch and his wife Jennifer of Georgia; Jonathan Gooch and his wife Alisha of Pendergrass; and Eddie Gooch of Gainesville. His family was further blessed with the presence of his brother Wilburn Gooch and his wife Martha of Braselton, as well as his sister Pat Gooch Cabe and her husband Stanley of Braselton. Johnny’s legacy continues vibrantly through his fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Gooch, whose memory he treasured, and his brother Clifton Gooch, who shared many years of brotherhood and life experiences with him.

A visitation to honor Johnny’s life will be held on March 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lawson Funeral Home, located at 4532 Highway 53 in Hoschton, Georgia. The funeral service will follow on March 23, 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. These gatherings will offer friends and family the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived. Interment Hoschton City Cemetery. 

Johnny Ray Gooch’s memory will endure in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to a man whose passions and dedication to family defined his journey on earth. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
