Katherine (Kay) Shull Schulte

Katherine (Kay) Shull Schulte, age 78 of Hoschton, passed from life on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.  A graduate of Sacred Heart High in Atlanta.  She attended Georgetown University and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey where she became a Registered Nurse.  She met and married John F. Schulte in 1961 and they were transferred by the U.S. Forest Service to different locations in the USA before being transferred back home to Atlanta in 1970.  Kay worked at Button Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville, GA and helped open the Surgical Care Unit at Gwinnett Medical Center in 1984 in Lawrenceville.  She remained there as Unit Director until retirement.  Since retirement she has worked many volunteer hours in service type organizations for Hoschton as well as Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she was a member.  Kay will remembered for her commitment to her family, her faith, service to others. Her hobbies were following the grandchildren’s sporting events and her volunteer work. She leaves behind her husband John of 55 years as well as daughter, Deb Schulte Long and husband Dale; sons John Andrew Schulte and wife Joanna, Stephen Schulte and wife Amne; grandchildren Mariamne (Mini) Schulte, Meredith Schulte, John D. (Jay) Schulte and Eric Schulte.  Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Friday, August 19, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6439 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch, GA, 30542 with a reception immediately following.  The family will receive friends 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Prince of Peace Church or to the Jackson County Humane Society at hsjc.com.   Funeral arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53, Hoschton, GA, 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org ., 706-654-0966.
