Lanell Betty Fowler

Lanell Fowler, age 85, of Buford passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018.  Beloved mother of three, Ms. Fowler grew up in Athens and moved to Atlanta when was only sixteen years old. She worked at CWA, initially as a secretary for VP of District 3 and then for Adair, Scanlon & McHugh, legal counsel for CWA for a total of thirty-eight years. She cared deeply for employee and women’s rights. At the age of twelve she was the first girl allowed to have a paper route for the Athens Banner Herald. She lived a life of quiet strength and integrity, and all who knew her loved her. Survivors include her son Mike Childress and wife Debi of Auburn; daughters Robyn Childress of Dacula, Gail McDaniel and husband John of Lawrenceville; brother Ron Fowler of TN; sister Demaris Turk of Athens; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.  Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53, Hoschton, GA, 30548 , www.lawsonfuneralhome.email , 706-654-0966.
