Margaret Elizabeth Tanner

Margaret Elizabeth Tanner, born December 24, 1940, passed away on August 28, 2026.

Margaret will be remembered for the warmth she brought to everyday life and for the simple joys she cherished so deeply. She loved to sew and quilt, creating with patient hands and a caring heart. She also loved to cook and to color, and she found special happiness in time spent with her family. Among her greatest joys was rocking her grandchildren and reading books to them, moments that reflected her gentle spirit and the love she gave so freely.

Family was at the center of Margaret’s life. She is survived by her son, John Wesley Tanner of Auburn, Georgia, and her daughter, Terri Lynn Mote of Auburn, Georgia. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, each of whom was part of the family circle she treasured so much. Her love, care, and steady presence will continue to be felt in the lives of those who knew her best.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles Tanner, and by her son, Robert Charles Tanner Jr. Their memories remained an enduring part of her life and of the family they shared.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Highway 53, Hoschton, Georgia 30548. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. also at Lawson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Frankie Green. Interment cremation. 

Margaret Elizabeth Tanner will be remembered with love for her kindness, her devotion to family, and the comfort she brought to those around her. Her memory will be cherished always.
