Martha Faye Martin , born in Forsyth County and attended Chestatee School passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024. In 1955 the family moved to Hoschton, Ga., when Lake Lanier took their farm. She graduated from Jackson County High School and that is when the journey began.
Martha was the owner of Phil-Mart Transportation for 52 years. In a business that was run by men, she made it her own. Some of the men who gave her the hardest time became great friends. She was actively involved in the Rotary Club of Braselton, Jackson Co. Chamber of Commerce and Women in Business, Braselton’s Women’s Club, Hoschton Women’s Civic Club, Hoschton Heritage Arts Council, CASA, Peace Place, Tree House, Habitat for Humanity, Shriners, St. Jude, Smile Train and a host of many others. She loved her church family at Center Pointe Church.
Martha was a member of the GA Motor Trucking Association, and the Georgia Regional Transport Authority. She was also very influential in getting Northeast Georgia Medical Center to locate in Braselton, GA. She served on the board there as well. She was active in the local GOP.
Her motto was “GOD FAMILY COMMUNITY COUNTRY” and she lived by it every day.
Martha had a heart of gold and loved sharing it with everyone she met and she never met a stranger.
Martha loved life. She put family first, but she always said “work hard and give with your heart, whether it be material things, monetarily, but most importantly with your time”.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to Rotary Club of Braselton, Humane Society of Jackson County, CASA or any of the organizations she was a part of.
