Nelda "Nell" Dunbar

Nelda “Nell” Dunbar, age 80, formerly of Russell Springs, KY, passed away peacefully at her Pendergrass, Georgia home on July 9, 2026.

Nelda taught herself to play piano at an early age, and was formerly a piano player for nearly four decades at the Freedom Separate Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress at Fruit of the Loom in Jamestown, Kentucky. Nelda will be remembered most for her love of growing beautiful flowers and playing piano.

She is survived by her son Kendell Dunbar (Ellie) of Pendergrass; granddaughter Erynn Elisabeth Dunbar Colbert (Dayton) of Pendergrass; grandson David Alexander Dunbar of Pendergrass; brother Carlos Sullivan (Janella) of Russell Springs; sister Wanetta Tiller (Phillip) of Russell Springs.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy K. Dunbar; son Keith Dunbar; parents Curtis and Nina Sullivan; and sister Phyllis Arnold.
