Peggy Marie Duren, of Duluth, Georgia, passed away on August 1, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will long endure. Born on August 16, 1952, in Duluth, Peggy’s life was marked by her warmth, devotion, and unwavering commitment to her family and friends.

Peggy’s journey began in her beloved hometown of Duluth, where she was raised in a nurturing and loving family. She was the daughter of Willie C. Garmon, who survives her, and the late J.T. "Red" Garmon. Peggy’s upbringing shaped her compassionate nature and steadfast values, which she carried throughout her life.

She shared a remarkable and enduring partnership of 55 years with her husband, Carlton Marion Duren, who stands alongside their family, honoring Peggy’s memory with deep love and respect. Their union was a testament to mutual support, dedication, and enduring companionship.

Peggy was a devoted mother to her children, Sharon Mitchell Hayes (Brad) and Steve Alan Duren (Shay), both of whom express immense gratitude for her guidance, care, and unconditional love. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren—Jennifer Wray (John), Tyler Mitchell (Ashley), Nicole Odum (Austin), Ashlyn Duren (Hunter), Ansley Duren, and Adysen Duren—each of whom brought her endless pride and joy. The special bond she cultivated with each grandchild will remain a treasured element of her lasting legacy.

In addition to her immediate family, Peggy is survived by her mother, Willie C. Garmon, and her sister, Freda Garmon Reynolds (Wayne). Their shared memories provide solace in this time of loss.

Peggy was predeceased by her father, J.T. "Red" Garmon; her sisters, Faye Garmon Harrington and Wanda Gail Garmon; and her brother, Jimmy Clay Garmon. She held each of them dear and carried the love for her family with her always.

Throughout her life, Peggy exemplified kindness, resilience, and generosity. Her spirit touched countless lives, and her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Peggy will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her loved ones, her strength of character, and the warmth she brought into every space she entered.

As we reflect on Peggy Marie Duren’s life, we give thanks for the time we were granted with her and for the profound impact she made within her community and her family. Her memory will remain a guiding light, and her love will continue to be a source of strength and unity.

A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Peggy will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Frankie Green. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the funeral home. 

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
